Employee of the Month: Cara Williams
Congratulations to Cara Williams, our Administration Team Leader for being awarded Employee of the Month.
This month, our employees voted for their colleague who displays our lean thinking value.
The systems Cara has implemented have significantly reduced customer booking times, making the process smoother and more efficient. She has also streamlined workflows and automated key admin processes, ensuring the business runs seamlessly while keeping costs in check. A big thank you and well done Cara for all the hardwork that you do!
What do you do for Engineius?
I’m the Team Leader for the Admin Department. My team do at least something for almost every department at Engineius; anything from organising the storage and postage of high vis vests & trade plates, to scheduling meeting rooms.
Our main areas of responsibility day-to-day are reviewing expense requests, managing bookings systems for bespoke customer accounts; and general office management.
What motivates you to do well in your role?
I’m motivated by the idea of trying to be a positive influence, whether that’s through my interactions with others or the impact of my work. I find it helpful to think of this ideal on a difficult day or during tedious tasks.
What playlist do you listen to in the car the most?
I’m more of a radio or podcast person, mostly Sports or Trivia - ‘No Such Thing as a Fish’ is one I never miss an episode of (shoutout to Beyonce though, she’s probably 50% of the playlists I do have).
What do you like most about working for Engineius?
I really enjoy making life easier for people and finding ways to maximise our resources. Being able to a take a manual process that is taking up someone’s time and resources; and come up with a system to make it easier for them and take it off their hands is very satisfying.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
I play and coach hockey for a local team and also play a bit of (very beginner level) football, so getting outside and playing a sport is a feature of a lot of my evenings, or in the house I do love a jigsaw puzzle with a documentary on tv! 🧩
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
I have been reading a book about different fonts and the history of different styles of font being invented – it's really interesting to find out about all the things that go into creating even a simple font.
Describe one thing you've learnt in your role?
I’ve learnt exactly where to look for the date and time on receipts for almost every major fuel provider (irritatingly right at the bottom of Tesco receipts – easily cut off in photos!)
What’s a hobby or interest you have that might surprise your colleagues?
I’m unsure if I can still do it as well as I use to, but when I was a teenager running track, I was weirdly fast at backwards sprinting.
I was a middle-distance runner but was faster than the sprinters when we ran backwards in warm-ups!
